HX paint colour 005
This is pretty much how we bought the old girl (but with a bench, not buckets) with reco motor, new extractors and exauhst, ect' and took only Two tyres and two lower balljoints, new rear brake cylinders and shoes plus a number plate globe for a roadworthy. Paint has some wild crows feet and there is a smear of bog (dents) and she's almost 100% rust free.

Best thing you can do to your red motor is toss the points dizzy (and coil) in the bin and fit a HEI dizzy and coil from a blue motor. Don't forget to give it the full 12 volts. I gave it a new drive cog, dizzy cap and leads before i put it in.

Scored myself some crow straight cut timing gears(multi keyway), and a CS-1277 camshaft.
The cam specs are; 32/69(281)inlet, 72/29(281)exhaust. With .280" lift at the lobe(0.420" valve lift with 1.5 rockers). Whatever the hell that means, lol. If it aint lumpy enough to annoy the cook then out it comes and i'll find a bumpier stick.

Brisk 006
I got my brisk plugs in the mail today (to suit the 173 blue head of course). At $24.75 each, they arent cheap but are good. I've put an adress below that takes you to another oldholden member, Rosco's test results from his thorough testing of plug indexing and Brisk plugs; Click "Download document".

Weber carby 002
Got myself a 34ADM Weber carby from an XF falcon to chuck into the mix. These carbies have gained much popularity amongst holden 6 cylinder fans and they came standard on XE and XF falcons so are quite cheap and easy to get (mine cost $55 from the wreckers) They also require no changes in jetting for most holden 6 applications. They are a two barrel carby but it only operates on one barrel until you push the go pedal down past half way with the second barrel coming in as a (mechanical) secondary. This gives you good economy and when power is your bag, just sink the boot to bring the second barrel into play.

heads 002
I've decided to convert my red 202 to a blue head and have chosen the closed chamber 173 12 port (on the left). The head on the right is an open chamber 202 black EFI head to show comparison. The valves are the same size in both heads even though looking at the pic, you'd swear diffrent.
Anyway, there will be no machining or mods to the 173 head before use, just giving it a tub and lapping the valves into their seats not forgetting new valve stem seals while i'm in there
NEWSFLASH...I've dicovered the blue 173 head had valve guide issues plus a chipped valve (on the tip of the stem, the face which contacts the rocker) so i'm using the black EFI head instead.

EFI head 009
When pulling down a head, always keep your valves, springs and collets all labelled so they can all be put back in their original positions

Scored myself an adaptor to fit the weber to the std blue motor manifold.
I had hoped to buy one of aussie speed suplies aftermarket 2 barrel manifold to suit the weber but they are still at least two months off being ready. Future upgrade ?

Spacer is needed between the weber and manifold (the accelerator linkage hits the manifold) so i got a mate "Davequeymad" to cast me one using the adaptor as a mould..nice job :-)
