This work guide will be detailing the installation of the Davies, Craig Pty Ltd Electric Water Pump (EWP) and EWP Controller. There are several ways to utilise the EWP, either as a booster to assist the standard water pump, or as a complete replacement. It can also be used with a switch to activate it, a controller to activate it automatically when required, or always activated when the car is running. Also, it can be activated by a turbo-timer which enables it to run on after the engine is shut down, eliminating heat soak.
In this guide we will be using the EWP to completely replace the standard water pump, and the EWP controller which will vary the speed of the pump as required to cool the engine.
It is worth noting here that if you are still using a standard fan on the motor you will need to still drive the water pump pulley wheel with the fan belt to allow your fan to turn. If this was the case on my motor I would have had to remove the impeller from the water pump to proceed...

Above we see the complete components in the EWP controller kit.
This includes:
1) The Controller itself which will be doing all the work.
2) A relay harness for the controller to enable it to recieve a consistant voltage.
3) A sensor seal for where the sensor wires pass under the water pipe at the thermostat housing.
4) A packet containing: Ring Terminal, Scotchlock and 3 self tapping screws.
5) A controller - pump harness
6) A length of copper wire to secure the sensor inside the thermostat housing.

Above we see the complete components of the EWP kit.
This includes:
1) 2 large hose clamps
2) A straight and an angled adapter.
3) 2 O-rings to seal the adapters to the pump.
4) 2 Thin and 2 Thick rubber sleeves for adapting the pump fittings to fit different water pipe sizes.
5) A wiring harness
6) 2 mounting feet should the pump need to be mounted to a bracket of some sort.
7) A relay.
8) A scotchlock and ring terminal for connection fittings.
9) 10 Amp fuse.
10) A self tapping screw.
11) 6 short bolts for the inlet adapter and 6 long bolts and nuts for the outlet.
12) 18 washers for the small and long bolts.

The EWP will be mounted in the bottom radiator hose as recommended by the instructions. Ideally it is recommended that we mount it as low as possible to allow gravity to assist the pump and also to minimise the chances of air getting into the pump. The pump inlet will be fed from the radiator side and the outlet will feed the engine side.

Since I will be using the EWP to completely replace the standard water pump, I will either have to remove the impeller from the water pump or by-pass the standard water pump by using a shorter fan belt from the timing wheel to the alternator. I have decided to use a shorter fan belt.

To remove the fan belt we simply have to loosen the top alternator bolt (you may also have to loosen the lower bolt slightly).
