This workguide is for the basic swap over of standard headlamps to halogen headlamps, a surprisingly easy job which should take no more than 30 minutes and can cost as little as $100. The first thing we need to do is purchase either a conversion kit or a couple of halogen globes and reflectors. I went for the conversion kit which is pictured, it contains two reflectors, dustcovers, and two halogen 100/50W globes.

Rather than stick with the standard halogen globes I decided to get some arctic blue globes which give off a very white light and are better for rainy conditions and also give a better light to see by. These globes don't need a high wattage like standard halogen globes for high beam because they already give a better light than the standard globes, so a little more power and the light kicked up a little gives the same result as a lot more power and the light kicked up on the standard halogen. These globes can be bought from autobarn for $35.99 for a pair or $25 each from Repco...add to that $100 for the halogen conversion kit from autobarn or $130 for the kit from repco.

This is how the reflector comes out of the kit, the dust cover has a drain lip to allow any moisture to escape which needs to be positioned at the bottom. There is a fitting (at the front in the picture) which can be pulled out and a smaller globe is fitted to it for parking lights.

The HR has separate parking lights so we remove the parking light fitting and place the small plastic blocker supplied into the hole, both items will simply push in and out.

Taking the dust cover off we can now see the clamp wire that will hold the halogen globe in the reflector.
