This is the target for this work guide, the standard premier wheel, my plan is to remove it and put it into storage and put a smaller sports wheel on in its place. I am storing it because things like the premier horn ring are getting rare and expensive so I want to look after mine.

The first thing to do when removing the wheel is to remove the two screws holding the horn ring on, this will allow you to get at the main nut that holds the wheel on. The first of the two scres is behind the indicator arm.

The second of the two screws is below the gear shift arm.

With the horn ring removed I can now get to the main nut, you don't have to remove any of the horn setting screws or anything else to remove the wheel.

Before removing the wheel though I thought it would be a good idea to disarm the air horns, there's nothing like working under the dash, bumping the horn, and jumping up so quick that you hit your head and spend the next two weeks explaining to people why you have a holden lion symbol embedded in your forehead.
To disarm the air horns I am simply removing one wire from each of the compressors, the same principal works with standard horns. This worked pretty well because if I pressed the horns I could hear the compressors click on but the horns didn't activate, therefore I knew the horn was working with the new wheel.

To remove the steering wheel you'll need to remove the main nut in the center.
