I've finally gotten the chance to get around to Rare Spares and buy some parts for the cars, still waiting on a second box of parts and then I've also got to get some time away from the new twins to get the jobs done. Anyway, finally a chance to start on this album with the front gril badge, this cars badge has been missing since we bought it so I just painted a blue and red cross in there and from a distance most people didn't notice.
I bought a replacement badge from Rare Spares, it is a reproduction part but it really looks the goods. It also looks much more original than the old stick on type replacement.

This is a comparison between the two jobs, I wasn't too worried by the original job but you just can't beat having the proper badge in there.

The new stereo and two front speakers for her car, stereo will go in the glove box and speakers either under the seat or in the kick panels, either way I want the new stereo completely hidden so the car still looks "old-ish". The original clarion radio will still reside in the standard spot but I reckon the wife will be happy with stereo sound from two speakers, fm radio and mp3 playability.

The car will be getting front and rear seatbelt upgrades, I've installed the fronts already but will do the rears when I go to do the hood lining. The car will have twin retractables in the front with a lap belt in the middle and triple retractables in the rear, finally everybody in the car can have a seatbelt.

The car also got new lenses on the rear (was badly needed on the passenger side). The image shows the old on the left and new on the right.

The new stereo is in, originally I was going to put the speakers in the kick panels but I had this shortened center console sitting in the shed so decided to throw it into the car and put the speakers into the front of it.

The stereo itself was put into the glove box, I took the old glove box out, rebuilt the floor and side wall using wood (it now extends to the side of the car on the left and all the way back to the firewall). Next I built a new wooden backwall in and mounted the stereo into that. It'd be a bugger of a thing to steal now, you can't even get to it unless you rip all the wood out. The main aim though was just to have it hidden in the glovebox.

I covered the wood in some felt I had and also put some around the outside edges to stop any glove box lid rattle (not that it had any after I adjusted it anyway).
The glovebox lid does stop any signal from the remote getting through so it needs to be down to be accessed, being an mp3 player though she now has a cd with 150+ of her favourite songs to listen to, not to mention FM radio as well...
