FX sedan project- NOT for sale

This is the FX sedan Project I was sold by the three daughters of John Inglis. This is a genuine one owner car in remarkable condition. Easily without a doubt - one of the best cars of this type in the country.
Unfortunately John passed away suddenly in February 2006. I was contacted by Robin - one of his daughters who was enquiring about getting the car valued so it could be sold. In reality the three girls secretly hoped to find someone that could take over the restoration of their Fathers car.
This car was partially dismantled with many parts already reconditioned and carefully labeled, catalouged and stored away. The amount of meticulous detail that has gone into the restoration of this car by John is unfathomable!
I am honoured that Robin Jane and Jo have chosen me to finish what their father had started in 1975!

This is truly the find of a life time and when completed this car will be up for sale. The Girls have first option of course but the practicality of them keeping such a car may be beyond thier means. However I will make sure they have a few more pleasant memories with this car yet!
Follow along as we continue the journey that John Inglis commenced in 1950 with this classic Aussie Icon - the 48- 215 Sedan or FX Holden as it is popularly known.

This is how we found her - just as John left it. The vast majority of parts have been itemised and carefully stored. No second guessing though - Johns labelling and record keeping leaves little doubt as to what went where and when it went there!

The engine has been reconditioned . John left the fuel tank and fuel pump dissconected- I assume as not to allow stale fuel to accumulate or attract moisture in the tank. Later we will show you his ingenous methods of starting this engine. All records are kept as to when it was last run and a full run down on the history of each cylinder and and valve. I suspect that John treated this car as one would treat any precision instrument- with the utmost of diligence!

The roof is sporting a weird two tone job as applied many years ago by John. Legend has it that earlier in the cars life John succumbed to some peer group pressure and painted the roof in this fashion as that was the thing to do. I suspect though that the truth lay in an attempt to keep the car a bit cooler and maybe cover up some of the thinning paint.

The Id tags were removed and stored away. Even the bits of card board holding the screws in place have been precision cut! At this stage I knew I was in for a treat. This chap was ultra thorough!

And here is the main engine bay tag. I have yet to sit down with my books and decipher all these codes- that 'X' is a curiosity

All the original sales documents have been displayed in a folder by John. These all came with the car so helps in keeping the picture complete.
