Shed: Mikes Auto Body

Arriving in NZ it didn't take long to be noticed with our cars. Mikes Auto body was located right beside Nostalgia Motors where I was getting my cars complianced for NZ registration. Mike Dunn invited me to work with him. Here is some of what we acheived.

Shed: Davin's 1950 Desoto style side truck

This is the full blown resto of a 1950 Desoto Truck for our Policeman mate Davin. Persistence pays off obviously - Davin has been trying to get this truck into our shed for quite some time and constantly dropped in to check the progress on the 2007 project (Scotty's Monaro) - the whole time hinting at how much better my shed would look with his truck in it.
Davin has already completed much of the drive line resto himself and collected many parts for the rest of the truck. Follow along our 2008 project and watch as new life is beaten back into this rather battered 1950 Desoto Style side.

Shed: Michael's HG Monaro - the Golden Child.

Sometimes our work involves fixing other folks interpretation of a Good Job. Michael's Monaro is a good example of how badly built a car can be. Unbelievably -this is the third time this car has been restored before its even hit the road! The body work and paint is nearly passable at first glance- but has enough flaws that it has to be re-done.

Michael who owns this car has been unlucky thus far with getting the right sort of job done on many aspects of this cars restoration.
Michael is an Australian working in Ireland- where this Monaro is destined! But not before its rightful and final resurrection in our hands here at streetneat.

Shed: Gregs Bathurst Monaro

One Bathurst Monaro attracts another. It seems we have inadvertently become the hospital for sick Monaros! This is Greg's genuine HT Bathurst Monaro GTS350. Greg bought this Iconic Muscle car a few years ago and has been slowly transforming it back to original with a bit of assistance from Both Graham (Carr Creation) and myself here at Streetneat.

Shed: Scotty's Bathurst Monaro

The full Monty restoration of Scotty's Genuine 1969 Bathurst HT Monaro. This was the 2007 project for Streetneat. It took nearly twelve months and was a full time complete and thorough nut and bolt restoration. Thank you Scotty for being such a wonderful and amicable customer.

Shed: Mikes HT Monaro restoration

Mike bought his HT Monaro before the prices went through the roof. He still paid what I thought at the time was a lot of money for what amounts to a basic car - but he bought wisely as this car was in pretty good shape and a relatively easy resto. We still uncovered some bodgey repairs we had to put right first though...

Shed: HQ LS Monaro restoration

What does a bank manager drive? Well when these cars were new - a HQ Monaro LS was just the ticket. This particular car is owned by a young bloke who works in a bank - in the finance sector eventually he may even be a bank manager. This is the sort of investment that interest all of us.

Shed: Coreys one tonner restoration

This is a classic example of a job that grew out of some simple rust removal. The end result? This HJ one tonner got to take itself to the dump! In style of course.

Shed: Marina's HR restoration

Marina bought herself a very sweet HR Holden - it was in pretty good shape to start with - so we gave it a birthday. Marina still has this car as her daily driver in 2007!

Shed: EJ smash repair

I normally will not do Insurance work as Insurance assessors today have absolutely no idea what is involved - nor do they accept the effort and expense that has to go into older cars. This EJ wagon was side swiped in a car park by a non caring Asian driver who laughed at the unfortunate owner and said it was only an old car. We set about to do a minor full Monty retso on the affected panels.

Shed: some yank cars -57 Chevys- Hot rods - Mustangs and Trucks

In here you will find what it takes to remove rust properly and ensure it doesn't return. We are quite often re- doing repairs that have come from other panel shops. Also in this album you can see some other stuff we have done restos on.
