Davin's 1950 Desoto style side truck

Shed: Davin's 1950 Desoto style side truck

This is the full blown resto of a 1950 Desoto Truck for our Policeman mate Davin. Persistence pays off obviously - Davin has been trying to get this truck into our shed for quite some time and constantly dropped in to check the progress on the 2007 project (Scotty's Monaro) - the whole time hinting at how much better my shed would look with his truck in it.
Davin has already completed much of the drive line resto himself and collected many parts for the rest of the truck. Follow along our 2008 project and watch as new life is beaten back into this rather battered 1950 Desoto Style side.

Scotty's Bathurst Monaro

Shed: Scotty's Bathurst Monaro

The full Monty restoration of Scotty's Genuine 1969 Bathurst HT Monaro. This was the 2007 project for Streetneat. It took nearly twelve months and was a full time complete and thorough nut and bolt restoration. Thank you Scotty for being such a wonderful and amicable customer.

Mikes HT Monaro restoration

Shed: Mikes HT Monaro restoration

Mike bought his HT Monaro before the prices went through the roof. He still paid what I thought at the time was a lot of money for what amounts to a basic car - but he bought wisely as this car was in pretty good shape and a relatively easy resto. We still uncovered some bodgey repairs we had to put right first though...

HQ LS Monaro restoration

Shed: HQ LS Monaro restoration

What does a bank manager drive? Well when these cars were new - a HQ Monaro LS was just the ticket. This particular car is owned by a young bloke who works in a bank - in the finance sector eventually he may even be a bank manager. This is the sort of investment that interest all of us.

Coreys one tonner restoration

Shed: Coreys one tonner restoration

This is a classic example of a job that grew out of some simple rust removal. The end result? This HJ one tonner got to take its elf to the dump! In style of course.

Marina's HR restoration

Shed: Marina's HR restoration

Marina bought herself a very sweet HR Holden - it was in pretty good shape to start with - so we gave it a birthday. Marina still has this car as her daily driver in 2007!

EJ smash repair

Shed: EJ smash repair

I normally will not do Insurance work as Insurance assessors today have absolutely no idea what is involved - nor do they accept the effort and expense that has to go into older cars. This EJ wagon was side swiped in a car park by a non caring Asian driver who laughed at the unfortunate owner and said it was only an old car. We set about to do a minor full Monty retso on the affected panels.

Shed: some yank cars -57 Chevys- Hot rods - Mustangs and Trucks

In here you will find what it takes to remove rust properly and ensure it doesn't return. We are quite often re- doing repairs that have come from other panel shops. Also in this album you can see some other stuff we have done restos on.

rollpan on hilux 002.jpg

Its been a while since I have updated this album. There is always something being restored or modified at Streetneat.
This Hilux tray came to me for some custom work. I had to shave and fill the tonnuae holes and fabricate a custom roll pan for the rear.

This client wasted no time in fitting his newly modified tray. The future plans will call for a tubular rear bar to tie in with the roll bar theme.

The roll pan looks factory. It was quite tricky to create this with a reasonably small gap between the pan and the tailgate. We angled the jamb area downwards- which had the desired effect but created an area which will collect water- so drain holes were discretely added. The other custom touch lies in the ever so slightly angled recessed or 'frenched'number plate - Ala Corvette style - this fools the eye into following the roll pan curves without interruption. Lets hope his new rear bar doesnt hide my work!.

The exhaust on this rather well detailed VL Calais build up is HUGE! How about four inches from Turbo to tailpipe! More on this one as it progresses. The underside has already seen quite a bit of work and is fully painted. I was responsible for some welding and smoothing work in the engine bay quite some time ago. This car is rather unique in that it serves several purposes - Show and go- yet streetable enough to get the bread eggs and milk... Talk about a quick brekky!

Ok here's a Holden at last . This is a VG Ute - 5 litre , manual, and sounds very nice thank you.. We had this car come to us after it was severly written off. Hit a power pole and tore the side out of it - Came to rest after spinning and cleaning up the front drivers side as well.

The front spoiler is custom made and was damaged severly in the accident. It was poorly repaired by some one else and had to be re done by Graham. Colour is Lilac Pearl over the original Maranello Red. Wheels are HSV Grange. These too were rapaired as they were all damaged in the accident (He has'nt fitted the front ones yet).

Sorry its taken so long to reply to this- like the fat hamster that powers this sites exercise wheel- it takes time for the wheels to turn
The best way to fix steering wheels we found is to epoxy prime them after a thorough sanding. I use a fine filler called Dolphin Glaze by Upol (UK MADE)for the fine cracks and the larger cracks or missing bits are made up with Fibreglass filler ( Fibre all by Upol- UK). All repairs are primed with more epoxy primer ( PPG DP 40 or PPG Delfleet epoxy) The paint used for top coating should be an epoxy two pack - or the 'truck line' type of paints- as they are much harder wearing.
