Its been a while since I have updated this album. There is always something being restored or modified at Streetneat.
This Hilux tray came to me for some custom work. I had to shave and fill the tonnuae holes and fabricate a custom roll pan for the rear.

This client wasted no time in fitting his newly modified tray. The future plans will call for a tubular rear bar to tie in with the roll bar theme.

The roll pan looks factory. It was quite tricky to create this with a reasonably small gap between the pan and the tailgate. We angled the jamb area downwards- which had the desired effect but created an area which will collect water- so drain holes were discretely added. The other custom touch lies in the ever so slightly angled recessed or 'frenched'number plate - Ala Corvette style - this fools the eye into following the roll pan curves without interruption. Lets hope his new rear bar doesnt hide my work!.

The exhaust on this rather well detailed VL Calais build up is HUGE! How about four inches from Turbo to tailpipe! More on this one as it progresses. The underside has already seen quite a bit of work and is fully painted. I was responsible for some welding and smoothing work in the engine bay quite some time ago. This car is rather unique in that it serves several purposes - Show and go- yet streetable enough to get the bread eggs and milk... Talk about a quick brekky!

Ok here's a Holden at last . This is a VG Ute - 5 litre , manual, and sounds very nice thank you.. We had this car come to us after it was severly written off. Hit a power pole and tore the side out of it - Came to rest after spinning and cleaning up the front drivers side as well.
Date: 11/09/03
We replaced the entire left side , both front guards and numerous small bits , Including the diff and entire front end.

The front spoiler is custom made and was damaged severly in the accident. It was poorly repaired by some one else and had to be re done by Graham. Colour is Lilac Pearl over the original Maranello Red. Wheels are HSV Grange. These too were rapaired as they were all damaged in the accident (He has'nt fitted the front ones yet).

HX Ute as owned by James of Rares Spares Brisbane. This is a genuine Sandman XX7 code.
Date: 20/11/03
This ute had copious amounts of rust and was brought in for a tidy up of the rust only. This quickly blew out.

After all the body was sorted out here it awaits its turn at being primed in two pack tinted primer.
Date: 20/11/03
Here it is in tinted primer and guide coat in our special baking facility - the sun.

Both front guards and the tailgate were replaced. The original GTS guards were too far gone.
Date: 20/11/03
Some of the removed rust -mostly in sills and 1/4 panels. All this you see has been replaced properly.

The bog I dug out was substantial. also dug out some very ordinary repairs where metal has been tack welded over rust. Some operators call this rust repair. I dont. All these areas did was to promote more rust as the bog that was put over the joins is hydroscopic and just sucked the moisture right back in so it could all rust out again.

Doodle (Graham) Wet rubbing the panels in the new specail bunded area to contain all paint residues. Even though my recent soil tests the council made me do have proven my soil is clean as a whistle. Got to protect them Koalas and Dugongs apparently. If I ever meet one of those bloody whinging Dugongs........

Ute has been painted and the tray has been treated to a coat of aqua fleck - brilliant stuff.
Date: 20/11/03
All finished and awaiting delivery. Note the new Caprice grill.
Date: 20/11/03
Just needs some decent wheels and rego and James is one happy Ute owner.

Helps if your Old Man owns Rares spares of course.... Many new parts found their way onto this project. Many Thanks to John and his team for all the parts they supplied as part payment for the work done. These parts will be used on some of my projects. Without Rares there would be a lot less of these cars recycled.

Here is another GM product. This is a short Chev. Its Canadian owner John bought it in from the states. These are a bit better looking than the one assembled by Holden. It runs a Vortec 350.Here Graham is applying the guide coat. It was panel beaten elsewhere.

Truck in primer. You can see how far pulled down it has to be for a proper paintjob. John and Graham tackled this one.
Date: 04/12/03
Pickup bed awaiting priming. Four of us removed it from the truck. Although we have a hoist for this - typical of blokes- "Nah we'll just grab it and rip it of now heh?".Wonder why we all have stuffed backs!

Here is a hint of the colour to come.House Of Kolour Candy Orange. All the inside surfaces painted first.
Date: 05/12/03
John and Graham assembling the Chev . All the engine bay has been two pack satin blacked for that OEM look.
Date: 05/12/03
Truck is ready for the topcoats of candy orange. Note careful masking of the trucks inner painted surfaces. A job like this is very labour intensive.
Date: 09/12/03
Finished product - the candy effect is very subtle - John did not want the sparkle it needed to make it loud. Still very nice though.
Date: 09/12/03
John reckons its gonna take months to put it back together = he has a lot of new parts he will be fitting.
Date: 09/12/03
Got to love that Aqua fleck in trays of trucks or Utes.Really smartens up the whole deal. Makes it practical too.
