HG Kingswood Reco Part 1

In September of 2011 i decided to pull the HG off the road and pull the tired of 186 and 3 speed and put a 186S and new 3 speed with Speco floor changer in it. Also did the front end bushes and repainted the engine bay while I was at it. redid all the dash and as well. Just part 1 of a very lengthy rebuild.

Stripping the engine bay. We are going to do a full rebuild on all the front suspension with SuperPro parts and do a mostly concealed wiring job and smooth the inner gaurds a little.

Iv never done any trimming in my life, so i thought, id give it a go and was happy with the results. Cost at the local trimmers- $125.50, Cost at home with store bought vinyl, glue and staples- $15.25, Look of your face when you see the slightly dodgy corners, Priceless.

Now it really looks like a 186S. Really happy with how it looks. Runs really well and has plenty of go. On the dyno it made a healthy (now don't laught) 76.3 RW/HP at 4320 RPM. And I pulled a 18.69 over the 1/4 mile. Funny to think these figures were once considered quite normal. I'm happy though, its only a cruiser for the time being.

And the car was all ready to go on my very rainy wedding day. That ends the HG Kingswood Reco Part 1. Next is Paint, Panel and Trim, and the last stage will be a drive line up grade. But for now, I am happy with my 76 HP 186S, and the Three Speed/3.55 Banjo Diff combo.
